The city of Rock Hill recently approved an upgrade to the Rock Hill Galleria and Manchester Village areas along Dave Lyle Blvd.  The goal is to make the area a premiere shopping destination that can compete with other area shopping centers like Fort Mill’s Baxter Village, South Charlotte’s Ballantyne Village, and North Charlotte’s Birkdale Village.

Some of the work, including sidewalks, curbs and gutters on Galleria Boulevard and Springdale Road, have already been completed, but the total 5 year project which is expected to finish up late next year includes additional sidewalks, curbs, gutters, lighting, and an enhanced Exit 79.  The recently approved funds include money for the new additions as well as maintenance for the new landscaping.

The passing of the resolution is the first step in the process of completing the project.  The next step is a public meeting, scheduled for August 11th at Rock Hill City Hall, where citizens and business will have the opportunity to express their thoughts about the proposed projects.

I for one am excited about the upgrades.  I’m a big fan of the atmosphere and ambiance of the other shopping districts in the area (Baxter Village, Birkdale Village, etc.) so getting one closer to home here in Rock Hill is a good thing!

According to the recent J.D. Powers and Associates Home Buyer/Seller Study, Keller Williams Realty ranks the highest in satisfying home buyers.  This inaugural study measured customer satisfaction of home buyers among the national real estate firms.

According to the J.D. Powers and Associates website:

Overall satisfaction is determined by examining three factors for the home-buying experience: agent (65%); office (21%); and services (13%).  Four factors are examined for the home-selling experience: agent (43%); marketing (38%); office (12%); and services (7%).

In the home-buyer segment, Keller Williams achieves a score of 831 on a 1,000-point scale, and receives highest ratings from customers in all three factors. Following in the rankings are Prudential (820) and Coldwell Banker (816). Prudential performs well in the agent and office factors, while Coldwell Banker performs particularly well in the services factor.

As a member of the Keller Williams family, I feel very proud and honored that we received this recognition.  I know it’s my personal mission to help each one of my clients in the Rock Hill SC or Fort Mill SC are either buy or sell their home as pain and stress free as possible.

Real estate can seem like a roller coaster ride at times, but with the right agent, it can be an enjoyable ride at the same time.

If you’ve ever watched the show ‘Extreme Home Makeover’ then you know the premise of the show.  Ty Pennington leads a crew of ambicious home renovators in the seemingly insurmountable task of completely replacing decrepit, delapidated home in less than 7 days.  They often pick families that are involved in worthy causes and activities outside of their own interests, but have living conditions in desperate need of help.

Well, even though we all hope the lives of these people getting help are better off after Ty and his crews leave, that’s not always the case.  And a perfect example is a home remodel that was completed in an Atlanta, GA suburb in 2005.

The home was used as collateral for a $450,000 loan, but the home is set to go to auction on August 5th at the Clayton County Courthouse.  It’s sad to see that after getting such a huge helping hand, this family wasn’t able to hold onto the gift that was given them.

In addition to the home, the family also received $250,000 in donations from Beezer Homes, the home builder, and other generous donors that was to be used for college for the couple’s three kids and a home maintenance fund.

I certainly don’t want to jump to any conclusiongs, but let’s just hope the family did a better job of managing these additional donations!  It would make this story a huge tragedy if just a few short years later the family ended up with absolutely nothing to show for the generosity of so many good people!
