While a designer will most likely charge you a consultation fee, it shouldn’t be more than $100 for at least an hours worth of idea sharing. They should be able to give you some great ideas for ways to spruce up your home on a budget.

Not every update you make is cosmetic. A leaking roof, termite infestations, electrical problems, or other hidden issues can really bring the value of your house down.

One of the easiest, most cost-effective improvements you can make is to paint! A freshly painted room looks clean and updated and that means increased value.
When selecting paint colors, remember that neutral colors appeal to the greatest number of people, so if you’re thinking about selling anytime soon it will make it much easier.
Plus, if you figure a gallon of paint costs around $25 on average, you’ll have plenty of money left over to buy the rollers, painter’s tape, drop cloths and brushes. So, buy a few gallons and get busy!
- Find Inspiration in Magazines or TV Shows
An alternative to hiring a designer is to search for remodeling and decorating inspiration in design-oriented magazines, books, TV shows and websites. Simply tear out or print off the ideas you want to try and start your to-do list. Just remember to keep it simple.
When you’re on a tight budget, do-it-yourself projects are often the best.

In a recent Business Week article, Rock Hill, SC was named the best place to live in the entire state of SC. According to the article, Rock Hill boasts “warm weather and some of the best public schools in the state.”
A definite kudos to our fantastic little town and it just echos what us residents of Rock Hill have known all along!

At this year’s Southern Christmas Show, a yearly tradition 41 years in the making, visitors will get to see four holiday displays that were in the windows of Manhattan’s Lord & Taylor department store last Christmas.
According to David Zimmerman, president of Southern Shows, which puts on the Southern Christmas Show each year, “The windows there are very competitive. The stores try to outdo each other every year. They’re so elaborate. It’s a shame they’re up for only a few weeks.â€
Well, Charlotteans will have another 11 days to view these elaborate Christmas displays as this year’s South Christmas Show runs through November 23.

According to the latest Home Trends Report from Zillow.com, home values in Rock Hill, SC increased 4.95% in the third quarter of 2008 over 2007’s numbers. If you compare this to a nationwide decline of -9.7%, I’d say we’re setting pretty!
Sure, the financial markets are a bit of a mess right now, but fortunately for us, our real estate values are still holding strong and I do expect that trend to continue!
