Courtesy of www.Amazing-Christmas-Ideas.com, here’s a great idea for putting all your Christmas cards to good use this year.

Look your cards over and decide which cards look good together. They will be different sizes. Some will open from the bottom and some will open from the side. Some won’t open at all. They will be face cards, perhaps with children’s pictures.

When I hang the cards, I don’t want them to fall open. I only want to see the pretty pictures on the front. Use double stick tape or fold over single stick tape making a loop with the sticky on the outside. Now that you have tape with two sticky sides, place the tape on the inside of the cards in one place only, near the edge. You don’t want them permanently closed, because you may want to peek inside occasionally and do a little reminiscing. If you don’t want to tape them closed, that’s okay too. Just skip this step.

Once again, using double stick tape, start placing the cards at the top of the doorframe and move across. Select the cards you think look good together. Even after you’ve placed them, you can always change your mind and rearrange them.

I like to take them all the way to the floor so the entire door is framed. If you prefer, you may take them half way or three quarters of the way down. Then as new cards arrive you can tape them to the doorframe and add to the collection.

If you want the display to look a little dressier, place a greenery swag or large bow at each corner of the doorframe. Start placing your cards after these decorations are in place.

So, what do you do with your Christmas cards?

When people talk about the state of the environment and what can be done to improve it and actually save it, thy’re not just talking about what businesses are or should be doing.  In many cases, helping clean up the environment is something that starts at home!

Here’s a GREAT primer for greening up your Rock Hill SC home:

While there are lots of GREAT sites available online that will give you all sorts of information about your particular real estate market, what’s going on in the community, how the schools rate, what the median price is for homes for sale, etc., one of the most comprehensive sites I’ve found is the Realtor.com website.

You simply enter the neighborhood or zip code you want to get information for and viola….it spits out a pretty comprehensive report for you.

In fact, here’s the one for Rock Hill, SC or zipcode 29732:

Realtor.com Rock Hill, SC Report

I’m currently working on providing much of the same information here on my website, but in the meantime, I definitely encourage you to check out the Realtor.com site.

Without last minute toy donations, requests for toys from many York County families in need may go unfilled this year.  With less than a week to go until Christmas, the toy tables at Toys For Happiness’ warehouse on Flint Street Extension in Rock Hill are nearly barren.

In fact, the warehouse is out of toys for infants and for children ages 9 to 14. “And the few toys the program does have for the 3 to 8 age group isn’t enough to fill the remaining requests for that group,” said Beth Covington, director of marketing and communications for the United Way of York County.

Toys for Happiness, a charity created by WRHI radio and the United Way of York County that allows families meeting eligibility requirements to submit a wish list for their children ages infant through 14,  has filled the stocking of 1,914 children.  Unfortunately, there are still 377 children that will be without toys Christmas morning if things don’t change quickly.

Certainly the economy has something to do with the shortages as requests for toys is up 32%, yet donation totals are down from previous years.

If you’re interested in taking donations to Toys for Happiness, I’m trying to find out where you can take them and will post the information here just as soon as I do.  In the meantime, I would suggest calling the United Way of York County and asking them what you can do to help with this situation.
