Well, as much as parts of the Carolinas could really use some of the moisture (even though we’ve actually received quite a bit lately), it doesn’t look like we’ll see very much of the party known as Tropical Storm Fay. The storm that many initially predicted would reach hurricane status never quite made it as she made landfall earlier this morning off the coast of Florida.
Many in the western mountains of NC were hoping to see some rainfall later this week as a result of the storm, but according to the weather geeks, it doesn’t look like she’ll make it this far north. It’s looking like she’ll hang out and party in Florida for much of the week then take a sharp turn to the East across Alabama and Georgia, most likely missing us here in the Carolinas.
It’s unfortunate because there are still parts of North Carolina that are suffering from drought-like conditions and Fay was seen as an answer to these cries for moisture. Unfortunately, it looks like they’ve got some more dry spells ahead.
I guess more than anything, it’s just a reminder that those of us here in the Rock Hill SC/Fort Mill SC area should be giving thanks for the moisture we have received as of late. It sure beats stage 4 water restrictions!
